Collapsible Ski Case - 2nd Year
The brief from TimFish Design was to create a carrying system for sports equipment.
This project focused in on skiing and to create an efficient system to aid the carrying and transportation of skis. The emphasis for this project was placed in physical validation of mechanisms and principles of the design, along with detailed CAD work.

The approach was to utilise the inherent structural properties of the skis themselves and embody them into the product. In other words, the strength of the skis themselves were used to facilitate the products function.
A lot of time went into constructing test rigs in order to validate principles and theories. Here, I was able to find out correct handle positioning and orientation, along with wheel size and general ergonomics of the product.
The USP of the ski case is its ability to compact down when its not being used, allowing for easy storage (among other things).
As shown here, the strength of the skis themselves are used to create the structure for the case. An elasticated cover is pulled taught over them to absorb external shocks, removing the potential for any damage to occur.
